Only 30 km away from Buenos Aires we are coming across Tigre, a getaway from the city’s hustle and bustle to the rivers and wetlands.
On the way to Tigre, we will enjoy the northern residential suburbs of the city. Going along Avenida del Libertador we will pass by the presidential residence in Olivos (Quinta de Olivos). After that, we will driving and we will see luxurious residences and mansions. Arriving in San Isidro, peaceful residential area with luxurious mansions as well as some modest houses. We’ll visit the first open air mall in Argentina and historic center at Plaza Mitre where the beautiful neo-gothic Cathedral of San Isidro stands from the end of 19th century. The cathedral was designed by French architects Dunant and Paquin and inaugurated on July 14, 1898. The influence of French architecture is very well recognizable. Since it holds its position on a hill, behind the cathedral one can enjoy a beautiful sunset. Nearby is the feria, where every weekend artesenians are sold. There are often performances as well
Heading next to Tigre city, lying on the Parana Delta, one of the largest deltas in the world a 14.000 square kilometers area comprising thousands of islands and islets. We will enjoy the subtropical forest of the delta on the boat. The boats here are the only way of transport here; the delta is also a popular place for canoeing, kayaking and sculling.
Enjoy Tigre through parts of an enormous maze of rivers in an area that was formerly a swamp. It is an endless spectacle of lush tropical vegetation, imposing buildings and smallish wooden private dwellings built on stilts which houses city dwellers looking for the charms of the countryside. If you love photography, this is the right place for you, the endlessly changing landscape will leave you speechless; even amateurs can make pro pictures here!
This is a great travel option for a shore excursion since it is very close to Buenos Aires; great for ones that prefer the peace and calmness that river provides; also good for photographers.
