“JAIME MET US AT THE PORT, AND GREETED ME LIKE AN OLD FRIEND – BIG HUGS AND KISSES ON BOTH CHEEKS… WE HAVE BEEN EMAILING BACK AND FORTH SINCE LAST MARCH ABOUT ALL THESE TOURS, AND YES, I FELT LIKE I WAS GREETING SOMEONE I KNEW QUITE WELL, RATHER THAN MEETING HIM OF THE FIRST TIME!”
The tour to Petrohue begins in Puerto Montt with , the capital of the Lakes District, a good point to start from since in this port-city many cruises stop by and therefore makes a perfect shore excursion. One of the most spectacular areas of Chile where beautiful lakes and dozens of active volcanoes dominate the landscape, which makes it a great travel option for photography lovers. Your South America tour continues through the wild beauty of Chile’s Lake District, viewing the Puerto Varas- a charming city of roses, Lake Llanquihue, South America’s second largest lake, and the impressive view of the snow-capped Osorno Volcano ( if the weather permits). We recommend Puerto Varas for travelers seeking an adventure as you can go hiking, kayaking, horseback riding and similar in Puerto Varas. ¡Don’t forget! This is a TAILOR MADE TRIP, we can change according your needs to provide you the best experience of your life.
The travel continues along the eastern shore of the lake and past the village of Ensenada in order to arrive at the Vicente Perez Rosales national park- this area is known for its celestial lakes and volcanoes. This park is also the first established national park in Chile stretching east of the Lake Llanquihue all the way to the Argentinian border. One of the most loved places in the national park is the PETROHUE FALLS with emerald-green water, surrounded by a deep forest, which makes it perfect spot for taking photos. A stop will be made to walk ( low level walk) along the Petrohue River and view the falls cascading over the hard volcanic rocks and if you are lucky and skilled enough, you will be able to take photos of the icy cold clear waters which turn a fierce green on the Petrohue Falls. Also, from this place where there is a breathtaking view of the Osorno Volcano in middle of the exuberant rain forest. Afterward, enjoy a short walk around the Laguna Verde in an ancient forest before returning to the Puerto Varas city where you will have free time to explore this attractive lakeside town before to return to Puerto Montt, Pier or your Hotel.
A stop will be made at a local handicraft market during the tour. Tour order may be changed to alleviate congestion. Tour concludes at the airport, hotel or pier. Lunch or snack option available. We recommend that guests wear warm layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion, a rain coat, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are also recommended. Light color clothing is recommended to avoid the Mosquitoes ( December to January)
