“On the way back from Machupicchu to our beautiful sea princess, Jamie said to us, “my friends, I am very sorry we will not be going to Tahiti together – your ship, I see her from the plane in the dock, and she is still here waiting for you.”, but not once was I worried we were not going to make it back to our ship – Jamie was so organised and so in control of our group’s schedule and our movements, and I had every confidence that all contingencies were covered, and he could solve any unexpected issue that might arise. So, do yourself a favor, if you are planning a world cruise, or doing a circle south america out of Florida or la… Contact Jamie and book to go to Machupicchu with him – it is a decision you will never regret, and an experience you will remember forever.”

MachuPicchu is nowadays the most visited tourist attraction in Peru. It is an Inca citadel at the almost 2500 meters height set in the Peruvian Andes.
The history of MachuPicchu dates back to the 15th century when the Incan civilization was flourishing. This place still intrigues not only the historians but also the travelers who are coming more and more every year- Machu Picchu is the most visited travel attraction in Peru with about million visitors a year. There are plenty studies about MachuPicchu, nevertheless, even today scholars diverge in opinions about what was the purpose of it.
What is certain is that stories about the islolated place and lost city are for children- possible reason for these names is that the Incas abandoned this place century after building it because of the Spanish invasion. But, Incan icon remained relatively unknown until the 20th century, when Hiram Bingham brought it to international attention. It is built of the dry-stone with the classic Incan organization that is constructed around three important ‘institutions’- Inti Watana (the ritual stone associated with astronomy), The Temple of the Sun and the Room of the Three Windows (each representing one part of the world- the underground- Uku-Pacha, the heaven Hanan-Pacha and the present or the actual time Kay-Pacha. The valleys that converge formed a very populated area which increased the agricultural productivity since the Inca occupation in 1440. It is believed that Machu Picchu had a moving population like the majority of the Inca llajtas, it had a population ranging 300 and 1000 habitats belonging to an elite (possibly members of the Panaca of Pachacutecor Acllas which were chosen women) It is demonstrated that the agricultural power was made because of the mitimaes, which were people that after being conquered use to come from the different regions of the empire to accomplish certain jobs.
Your tour guide will take you to the archaeological remains, including the Caretaker’s Hut and Funerary Rock, which allows for one of the most spectacular views of MachuPicchu- a great spot for photographers. From this spot you will also see the main entrance to the city, the Temple of the Sun (also called the Torreon); the Royal Tomb; the Royal Sector, a still-functioning water canal and series of interconnected fountains; the Temple of the Three Window- all great examples how advanced were Incas for the historical period we are talking about. The tour guide will also head you to the each trapezoid extraordinarily cut with landscape of the bold Andes in the distance across the Urubamba gorge; the Principal Temple, which has masterful stonework in its three high walls; the House of the Priest; the Sacristy, renowned for its exquisite masonry; the Intihuatana, popularly called the “hitching post of the sun.”.The tour guide will also take you to the lower section of the ruins, separated from the spiritually oriented upper section by a central plaza. The lower section was more prosaic in function, mostly residential and industrial. We will view a series of cells and quarters, called the Group of the Three Doors and the Mortar District, as well as the Temple of the Condor.
CERTAINLY, IF YOU ARE PLANNING A LONGER SOUTH AMERICA TOUR, TRAVELING TO MACHUPICCHU IS A MUST.
