Lima- the city of art galleries, great restaurants, jam and long nights- if you are a hedonist, you will certainly enjoy the Peruvian capital. Lima lies on the shores of the Pacific ocean, making it a great shore excursion when you are off the cruiser.
The meeting point with the tour guide is at Callao’s port or Your Hotel from which you will be driven to Lima’s downtown.
The tour starts at the Colonial Lima, the historic part of the city; there’s no better way to meet the city for the first time then jumping straight into its hearth and getting to know its history and culture.
You will start the day touring around the Historical center of Lima Plaza St Martin and the Major Plaza, with its distinctive buildings: Palace of Government, Bishop Palace, the Cathedral and the Municipal Palace- the icons of Lima built in the Spanish manner. The tour takes you then to the Convento de San Francisco, which is considered the major sample of the religious colonial art in America. We will honor the Library, the Sacristy, the art collection of Francisco de Zurbaran y Rivera, and the infrastructure, decorated finely with Sevillian blue rollers of the 16th century; We will take a look at the Moorish arches and the Underground Crypts known as the Catacombs-common in Spanish architecture and both proofs of Spanish influence on pre-independence period. Next, the tour guide will take you to explore the MUSEO AMANO, located in the district of Miraflores, an exclusive residential area. The museum has a great collection of artifacts of the pre-Columbian cultures and has a great history of its own; it was opened in 1964 by Mr. Yoshitaro Amano, a Japanese immigrant who devoted much of his life to the search for archaeological pieces in Peru. His fascination with these cultural artifacts led him to rescue many pieces from archaeological sites which were often looted by grave robbers. A particularly noteworthy find is the collection of fabrics and ceramic pieces of the Chancay culture, which were found in stunning condition/
We will walk along the Miraflores Promenade: Lovers park with a great viewing point on the Pacific ocean- also, a great place to take photos
At the end of your tour, we will arrive in Lancomar, where we will enjoy a Peruvian buffet lunch at MANGOS, with a spectacular view.
