Exploring the Chile Central Coast
Surely, Valparaiso and Vina del Mar are the most popular Central Coast destinations, providing a sharp contrast to each other. But there are some hidden gems of the Central Coast, that you might like even more than these two.
This tour combines some of the best natural and agriculture sceneries of the central region. First, on the way to the northern coast, we will drive to the beautiful Aconcagua Valley one of the five principal wine areas in Chile; the region owns its name to Aconcagua mountain, the highest peak in the Andes with 6956 meters. The area is famous for the red wine with strain Seña earning international acclaim.
Then we will visit Maintencillo, a small sea town on the sea of 1.600 inhabitants. It is located 70 kilometers (43 miles) from Viña del Mar and 180 kilometers (112 miles) from Santiago, its coasts provide a mixture atmosphere with its forests of pine and eucalyptus; a heavenly place ideal to choose a vacation destination thanks to its narrow beaches, a waterfront ideal for sports like cycling, jogging, surfing, body boarding, parasailing, golf. Two long beaches are separated by an extended rocky coastline.
The perfect travel destination for those of you looking for a relaxing, quiet place where you can recharge your batteries.
Our journey takes us next to the Zapallar is a small inlet in the form of a shell, rounded up with steep hills which are creating a microclimate. Zapallar is the privileged place of the central coast because of the special micro-climate (it’s an inlet surrounded by trees) of this place, the winds are rare and the temperature is pretty stable during the whole year. Peace and quiet in the middle of a landscape with scenic beauty, sunlight beaches mixed with big rock formations- the best way to describe Zapallar.
Ask the tour guide if you want to know more about this place.
Once in Zapallar, we won’t miss a chance to visit the Cachagua beach, with sand soft as powder making you feel like you walk on clouds. If you are a sporty type, you can play volleyball, football, pallets and go horseback riding. This place is also a popular destination for surfers.
Chachagua faces “The Island of Penguins” declared a Natural Monument, inhabited by a colony of 2000 examples” Humboldt Penguins”.
